Tuesday Tip of the week - Rolled Calico Flowers

This week I was reading a copy of Scrapbooking Memories Vol 12 No2 and I found a article on 'Rolled calico flowers'. I immediately loved them and could definately see them on the boys pages I do. Skye Johnson's step by step guide is as follows.
Step 1, Take a rectangle of fabric approximately 15cmx30cm, I've used calico. Using three different coloured paints, paint the fabric any way you wish. A gradient style will work well - strating with the darkest colour at one end and working down to the lightest. Set aside to dry.
Step 2, Once the fabric is dry, tear it into strips approximately 1in wide and tie a knot at one end of each strip.
Step 3, Using the knot as a starting point, start twisting the fabric around, occassionally folding and rolling it, to give it a rose-petal shape. Use craft glue to stick the fabric at several points as you go along. When you get to the end, glue the end of the fabric under the bottom of the flower. Repeat with each strip.
I have some calico trying to dry (it's been raining here on and off for the last few days) so when it is nice and dry I will definately use them on a page and show you.
This week Skye Johnson is featured on 'Scrap the Girls' http://scrap-the-girls.blogspot.com/2009/09/featured-artist-skye-johnson.html
Till next time, happy scrapping. Nikki
