Wicked Princess Kit

I love this kit. My 3rd page so far :) Splish Splash Kit.

Wicked Princess Layout Challenge

This was the 1st layout challenge that I actually enjoyed :) Even more exciting was that it was my 1st play on the sewing machine. I will definately be going back for more. The cute cosmo criket paper went well with what Cooper was wearing. http://www.wickedprincesses.com.au/wickedforum/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=2111

My Favourite Males

This one was just for fun and I loved all the colours :)

Another Wicked Princess Challenge :)

Princess Kate Challenge
You must have something felt/fabric

do not use the colour green

There should be a smile on your page

Buttons, buttons, buttons
A piece of string from here to there..
A little spotty or dotty

This is my page for it and I LOVE it :) My lil sis and I on a night out in Brisbane. 1st night out together since she turned 18.
I used chip chop shop doileys, Kaisercraft paper, Used the sewing machine for the border. For the 1st time I sewed the middle of some crepe paper and then pulled the thread to make this cute embellishment. Added a strap from a top of mine that had broken and some Heidi swap and Kaisercraft lettering.

Flowers

I saw these flowers somewhere a while back and I thought they would look great on some girly pages. So as my first tutorial I have taken step by step photos of me making one. Sorry I have done them in pale pink which isn't great on the white backdrop but I hope to put them in a page soon which will help show you have great they look :) I have used 5 flowers to make this flower.
Step 1:  I've left one flower whole and flat. I've used a kaiser flower, you could you almost any time of flower that folds easily.

Step 2: I have then folded it in half

Step 3: Then in half again

Step 4: I have done step 2 and 3 to another 3 flowers making this 4 folded flowers all up.

Step 5: I have then glued the 4 flowers onto the base flower and  there you have it, a cute flower. You could fluff it up as much as you want and really change the look of it depedning on what you put in the middle. I'm yet to decide what to use..

Get Picky

Loved this layout over at Get Picky http://getpicky.blogspot.com/2011/04/april-sketch-challenge-7.html
Robot paper with Birch. Some perks of this bright and cute paper are the pages glitter and embossing. The paper is thicker so it was great to distress. This photos are from last easter so It was good to finally use some older photos. I have hundreds that Id love to scrap before the end of the year.. These photos crack me up, he is so dramatic sometimes!! This was over him and some of his friends fighting over his bike. He LOVES his bikes!
My local scrap shop has a crop night tommorow night so Im looking forward to doing lots more pages :) I have no camera at the moment :( so I'll probably have to do another bulk blog later in the week.

My new FAVOURTIE Page!! :)

Ok so this was a challenge but I can't seem to find who is running it but Im starting to think it may of been from last month :( Either way I love the page!! Now to go and find where it should be... if anywhere. lol
Using the 'Down on a farm' kit from them it has 'My Little Shoebox' papers. Ive added some embellishments from 'The Chop hop', 'My Vintage Blossoms' and some random embellishments from at home and my local scrapbooking shop http://www.facebook.com/media/set/fbx/?set=a.1500613320157.2067291.1378913613&saved#!/pages/Scrapbooking-24-7/112443688803564

Magic Challenge

Ove at 'Bird is the word' http://birdisthewordchallenge.blogspot.com/ they have a challenge where we have to use the word 'Magic' in our title. This is my page below using Kaisercraft papers and chipboard and flowers from 'My Vintage Blossom'. This is a bit of a simple one but I love the photo so much that I didn't feel right adding too much to it. Didn't want to take away from the photo.

Kraft it up

Oh I love the Kraft it Up challenges and was so excited to get my Kraft cardstock in time to do the April Challenge.
The challenge this month was a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 challenge. I had to create a layout based on the following...
1 piece of Kraft cardstock
2 photos smaller than 6x4
3 different Alphas
4 different patterned papers
5 different embellishments

I used 'Playgroup' paper from Echo Park that I bought from http://www.annascraftcupboard.com.au/store/, Piggy Bank sticker is a Jolee sticker that I bought from http://www.facebook.com/#!/shezsscrapbookingstickers, Doily from http://www.etsy.com/shop/thechipchopshop. Now to recieve my 'Purple Pumpkin' order. Can't wait!!

Inspiration!

I am really enjoying all these competitions. It has given me so much motivation to scrapbook photos that I've had sitting around for over a year or 2. I am trying different paper and colour combinations and I find my style is evolving and changing with each page I do. When I got back into scrapbooking last year it was mainly for kids and adults classes so I felt I had to keep it all quite simple and I was told to not leave empty corners. Now I can experiment and I am loving it. I still sometimes make boring pages with not many techniques or excitement but then I remember it's not for a class and the next one is better as I remember to let lose.
My camera has died but I can't wait to take photos of my new layouts tommorow!
Happy Scrapping :)

OUCH

This page was for the Stuck Sketches Blog http://stucksketches.blogspot.com/2011/04/more-from-april-1st-sketch.html and although Im not big on using sketches I actually really like how this page turned out. It makes it alot easier with all the great inspiration on their blog. This is another one using Bo Bunny papers. I have also added some ribbon, Kaisercraft letters and ink.
So I was just thinking today that I have embossing stuff and I havn't embossed in over 8 months! So hopefully I can get into using it on my pages again!! I have also just bought alot of stencils so Im looking forward to using them on pages aswell. Because my scrap room is downstairs, but I scrap mainly upstairs, it means I forget about alot of stuff that I have that I don't use.

Boys Hangout

The boys are so cute with their obsession with cars. Coop doesn't like when Jono starts up the ute but he loves hanging out in it. They are the best of mates. Im so lucky to have such a awesome family.

This boys hangout page was made using Grease Monkey Papers Bo Bunny papers. I used some Bazzil bling. Heidi Swapp letters. This page is put together using a sketch from the the April Anna's Craft Cupboard competition. I'm not great with sketches and even with this one Im not too sure. But it made me use some of my large amounts of Bo Bunny papers so Im happy :) I got some great kits from Anna's Craft Cupboard so I can't wait to use those papers really soon!! http://www.annascraftcupboard.com.au/gallery3/index.php

Another girly 1

Ive been trying to get into girly pages because I keep buying girly kits!! I love them but I have a little boy and are running out of photos of me when I was younger so I am now scrapping more of my friend's children. This one is of a special birthday girl that I have known since she was a few weeks old. I used the 'A little birdy' kit from Wicked Princess. http://www.wickedprincesses.com.au/wickedstore/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=156&zenid=aea9036d88f6ac29287b89c171aa9e85 The papers are from 'My Little Shoebox' and the cute fabric flowers are from 'My Vintage Blossoms.' I bought 4 kits off her a few weeks ago and I have been spreading the word ever since. The kits are really well put together and full of the best bits and pieces.

123 Challenge

I have to say I am VERY excited to have started doing challenges this month. So many great combinations. The 123 April Challenge is 'Lime Green, Fabric and the word Really. For the fabric part I added some starts. They have been cut out of a little bonds outfit that Coop used to wear as a baby. Can't believe he had grown up so fast and Im so glad I kept it as now I have it on paper to always remember. Green always looked so great on him and I think this black and white photo of him goes great with all the green! I used bling bazzil, bazzil cardstock, kaiser letters, ribbon and a chipboard letter 'R'. To check out the 123 Challenge go to http://ourbrightstarsandus.typepad.com/123challenge/2011/04/fir.html

A Crafter's Passion

Last night I had a goal. FINISH A PAGE!! I have about 6 pages around home that are 'almost' finished but then I get distracted, start a new one and forget about the little touches that the other pages need. Last night was different. I was determined to start and finish a page, and I did. I love the finish product. I don't have a daughter so when I saw this paper I thought I'd pull out a page of me as a child. I love the colours of this paper but even more so I LOVE the owls. I think they are the cutest and I'm so excited that I have left over paper from this kit to use on another page or 2. This kit only cost $10 (BARGIN) and as I said I have alot of papers left over. The only thing I added to this page is some Kaisercraft letters and ink. A Crafter's Passion is in Rockhampton QLD and here is the link to their blog http://www.acrafterspassion.blogspot.com/ they also have a facebook page http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2067291&id=1378913613&saved#!/ACraftersPassion
My favourite parts of the page have to be the rolled ribbon for the middle of the flower and the bling on the love heart.

Imaginisce Goodies!!

Oh my, the goodies from Wicked Princess are keeping me very busy! I bought the 'Splish Splash' kit and I love it. I have already made 2 pages from it and there's enough to make atleast 4 pages from the kit. The paper is called 'Splash Dance' from Imaginisce. All I have added to these pages are Kaisercraft letter and some ink. The 1st one - 'Look at his smile' has to be one of my favourite pages ever!! Alot of people say that Jono doesn't smile but when he is around his family he does. I think he just doesn't want to waste his smiles on people who wouldn't appreciate it. lol.

Next one is Beanie Boy. I remember growing up hats and beanies were my thing and now Coop has gotten into them aswell. No matter which ones we put on him he always looks good. I love that he isn't looking in this photo. I think I scrap way too many posed photos but Im starting to love the natural ones.

Girly Friday

I have been very busy today with my Wicked Princess Kits. http://www.wickedprincesses.com.au/wickedstore/ Wow was all I could manage to say when I opened the package. The kids were awesome and I had got them on special so that's even more exciting!! Oh now I wish Id taken a photo of them but I was way too excited to think to do it. Ill have to wait until tommorow though to upload my 1st page :( But hopefully the sun will be out and I can get a good photo of it!
Until then I have some girly pics to show you... This one if of a page I did using some bo bunny papers. This is over a year old and it helped me get back into doing girly pages. Now to borrow some of my friend's little girls as Cooper isnt a girly looking boy. lol

White with 1

My 2nd competitione ever and my 1st for 'White with 1' http://whitewith1.blogspot.com/
This month the challenge is white with olive and twine. At 1st I thought I might sit this one out as Olive isn't a colour I have in my stash as I don't overly like the colour but after a trip to my local shop (Scrapbooking 24/7) I realised that this could work out really nice. This photo is one of few that I have with Cooper. As he has gotten older, a photo with mummy is just not going to happen no matter what. So I thought Id be sneaky and take a photo with him while he was asleep. This is definately going to be one of my favourite pages.
In it I used some olive cardstock, Kaiser patterned paper, Kaiser letters, Kaiser flowers and some Vera ink. Also a knitted doiley that I got from Vinnies. In the end the hardest part about this challenge was finding the twine. Even then I could only get this olive colour but it worked out perfectly :) I can't wait to see what colour they want us to scrap next month :) Ive left it at a bad time to take the photo of the page and the wind here is crazy so it is a little more dull here then in real life. I was just way too impatient to wait until tommorow. So proud of it :)

Fancy Pants

This is one of my newest pages and I love it! Sometimes pages just come together within minutes and usually (for me anyway) they can take days, even weeks so when making this one I loved every second of it. The photo is so beautiful that I didn't really have to do much else. The look on his face is priceless and although you can see a smudge from where some whater got on the camera, I wasn't going to have that stop me scrapping it. I used some paint (paint is one of my new favourtite things this year), Kaisercraft letters, Adornit mini letters, some buttons from my stash, versa ink and some ribbon. With the letters I had run out of the ... and .... so I thought Id use some ink and use the chipboard sheet as a templete. Im loving how it turned out so I think I will definately be doing it again. Oh and the paper, who can forget the paper. It is the beautiful  Rusted Sun by Fancy pants. I have alot of it still to use which is good because I really love it.

My love for wool letters!!

Oops forgot my Tuesday Tip. This is definately one that I want to use asap as it looks GREAT!! I saw this one in Scrapbook Creations. Instead or inking or painting some letter what they have done is wrap it with wool! WOW it definately adds to the page and with so many colours of wool on the market it will be as easy as finding the right colour ink :) I am planning to use it on a page this week so I will upload that asap.

Vintage Attempt

Vintage is definately NOT my thing but over the last year I have done 2 vintage pages (1 probably isnt vintage but with the doileys Im going to try and claim it as vintage ;) This one is of my grandad and grandma who have both passed away. Its using some Kaisercraft papers, lettering, pearl strips and pearl brads. Also I have used their script stamp for the background and some lace I found in my stash. This class was also one that I made up for a class at Scrapbooking 24-7 in Yeppoon.

Facebook Competition over at Shez's Scrapbooking Stickers

We had to finish a layout or beyond the page project using some stickers that we have brought from Shez. I used Joleee stickers called 'Making birthday cake' I love the blue colours of the stickers and all the cute bits and pieces that came in the pack. Ive only used about half the pack. I love the blue, brown and cream colour combination in this page although I can't get a great photo of it in this miserable weather that we have had for over a week now. I also love my crepe paper flower. I have another 2 little ones to put on but I dont think it needs it anymore.  If you are needing some stickers here is Shez's link http://www.facebook.com/#!/shezsscrapbookingstickers

Catch up blog

So seeing I started the blog a few years after I started scrapbooking I think it may be hard to show you everything I've done but for now I'm going to start with some pages that were done last year using Kaisercraft papers. Both fairly simple but I love them in their own specials ways because the photos mean so much to me. The weather here is still miserable so trying to get new photos of all my pages is proving to be very difficult :( Hopefully the sun will come and visit us on the weekend.

Thrift Store Thursday!

I have a few things to post it's so hard to chose which to post first!!! lol. So first of all Ill show you my thrift store find for the week. Good old salvos has some great scrapbooking items for me sometimes. This bunch was the best yet :) I found elastic, cord, ribbon and lots and lots of lace!!! I know how dear this stuff can be so I snatched it up real quick. I think all up it cost  me around $7 and the black lace is about 4 times as big as you can see in the photo :) Can't wait to start using it on my projects.

Tuesday Tip of the week - Rolled Calico Flowers

This week I was reading a copy of Scrapbooking Memories Vol 12 No2 and I found a article on 'Rolled calico flowers'. I immediately loved them and could definately see them on the boys pages I do. Skye Johnson's step by step guide is as follows.
Step 1, Take a rectangle of fabric approximately 15cmx30cm, I've used calico. Using three different coloured paints, paint the fabric any way you wish. A gradient style will work well - strating with the darkest colour at one end and working down to the lightest. Set aside to dry.
Step 2, Once the fabric is dry, tear it into strips approximately 1in wide and tie a knot at one end of each strip.
Step 3, Using the knot as a starting point, start twisting the fabric around, occassionally folding and rolling it, to give it a rose-petal shape. Use craft glue to stick the fabric at several points as you go along. When you get to the end, glue the end of the fabric under the bottom of the flower. Repeat with each strip.
I have some calico trying to dry (it's been raining here on and off for the last few days) so when it is nice and dry I will definately use them on a page and show you.
This week Skye Johnson is featured on 'Scrap the Girls' http://scrap-the-girls.blogspot.com/2009/09/featured-artist-skye-johnson.html
Till next time, happy scrapping. Nikki

Give away time over at Lil' Red Rocket

Oh I love give aways and over at Lil' Red Rocket they are having one right now so head over and check it out! You wouldn't want to miss out on all these wonderful products. http://lilredrocketbuttons.blogspot.com/

Goal

I have a goal for tommorow but I am praying I have some nice weather. I need to take new photos of all my scrap pages then crop them all. Unfortunately I don't have a scanner big enough for them. Fingers crossed I can do it tommorow, so then I can upload some of my pages from last year to make room for all my new pages to be finished in the next few days. Happy Scrapping, Nikki

1st online competition

I have FINALLY finished a page for 1 of the many competitions I wanted to enter this month. This one is for Scrap the Boys http://www.scraptheboys.blogspot.com/ The criteria was that we had to scrap a moment in the day and put the time and date on the page. I have chosen nap time. He was exhausted after a morning at rydges so I was very happy that he had a nap as he has been trying to give them up lately. In this page I used some Cosmo Cricket papers. I absolutely love all the colours and can't believe I waited so long to use them (they are from 2008) I used used some bazzil bling and Heidi Swapp chipboard lettering/numbers. I find this page simple but with all the colours I don't want to overdo it too much.
I can't wait until the next challenge, I wont be leaving it until the last minute that's for sure. It's overcast here so I aplogise for the dull photo.

Busy Busy Busy

I have to aplogise tonight. I havn't kept up my part of the bargin but I do have a good exscuse. My parents and sister have driven 8 hrs to see us so I have been having family time. We have been to rydges, the beach, shopping and had a bbq on our new verandah. Its been a awesome day and luckily we can do it all again tommorow.
Now to scrapbooking supplies shopping!!!... this week I have purchased some Echo Park papers, OMG IN LOVE WITH THEM!!!. As I am new to this blog buisness I will just post the link to the website. I can't wait to show you all what I have bought as soon as I get it :) They have some great specials on at the moment.
http://www.shopandcrop.com.au/SalesFactoryPlus/OnlineStore/Pages/Home/Browse.aspx
I have managed to squeeze in a little scrapbookin time and have finished one page for one of many competitions that I hope to enter this year. Will post it tommorow. Happy Scrapping. Nikki

Getting back into it!!

Today is the day I will start my dedication to my love of scrapbooking and my blog. I definately spend way too much time on facebook and watching tv at night and I just don't see how that is going to be something I will remember in the future. Doing a new scrapbooking page or entering a competiton now that is something I think is worth while :)
So here is the run down on what Im going to do to keep motivated to this blog. Once a week I will be doing a 'Flashback Scrapbooking' post with a layout using some of my old papers. Unfortunately over the years I have bought about 5x more then I have actually scrapped and so I have ALOT of paper that needs to be used. Next up is 'Technique Tuesday' this will be showcashing a technique that is new to me. I will put a link to where I saw it and try my hardest to try the technique each week. Last but not least is 'Female Friday' as I have a 3 year old boy I don't often get into making girly pages but this will keep me motivated on doing more girly pages. I love everything to do with girly pages it's just I need to get out of the boy page rut that I am currently in.
Competitions are also going to be a big thing for me. They keep my mind thinking, they get me excited and they help this blog grow.
So there are my new years resolutions to my blog. I hope that you enjoy every minute of it. :)
